  • Hello Crosscut!
Have you hired a Marketing and Event Manager yet? I just announced the Launch of our Distillery here in Pembroke. O’Kenny Craft Spirits. I think we might have some similar goals. I want to give my local patron’s a local craft choice in spirits so that I can gain a small share of the huge LCBO pie. People here in Pembroke are excited that they will soon be able to purchase O’Kenny Vodka from local bars and restaurants. I have just begun my trip through the jungle of red tape, however all those distilleries like yours before me have made the trail a little wider. If you are interested, it would be great to keep in regular contact with Crosscut to swap marketing ideas and experiences with each other. My background is marketing and I am very skilled in some disciplines. Others; not so much. As 2 little distilleries, it might help us both to pool our marketing skills and resources. There are lots of times I have a marketing idea and I would love to get an impartial opinion, but I look around and there is just me. I have hired a branding and website expert but I can’t keep going to her for opinions; she has her other customers to deal with as well. Although I am far behind you in the process, I think my experience in marketing, public relations and just plain getting “ATTENTION!” could help you gain that little share of the pie that we are both looking for. My complete website is under construction so all we have up is our SHOP page to allow online purchases of O’Kenny merchandise for the all important Christmas season. My first ever business Facebook page is 3 days old but I have reached 1400 local patrons and hundreds are interacting with us (me). I sent an email to you at info@crosscut distillery.ca as well. I will be visiting my sister in Sudbury Jan 28th, 29th and 30th. I would love to come and meet you and see your place. Maybe you would let me get my hands dirty. I will be going down to the Last Straw Distillery in Vaughn to train in January. I will be producing some Vodka and Whisky with them and the Vodka will be coming back with me to Pembroke’s bars and restaurants with the O’Kenny brand name on it. I will be giving a large part of the label to Last Straw for their efforts to incubate me. I might call it Incubation Vodka made by Last Straw and O’Kenny. Local restaurants are already contacting me to help with the launch of my vodka. It is an exciting time for sure.

    Andrew Kenny
